Tour Overview

This 2-day gorilla safari starts at Entebbe in Uganda and ends in Kigali, Rwanda. On the first day you travel to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, either on a scenic 10-hour drive with stops at the Equator and in Mbarara, or on a scheduled flight to a nearby airstrip to save time.

The next morning you join the rangers for the gorilla trek. Once a gorilla family is found, you spend one magical hour watching them eat, groom and rest. After lunch you cross the border and drive on to Kigali, arriving in the evening. You are accompanied throughout by a professional Daydream Safaris guide.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day1

Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Your guide picks you up at Entebbe International Airport for the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. You can choose the road trip, about 10 hours with a stop at the Equator for photos and a lunch stop in Mbarara, followed by scenic views of rolling green hills and highlands. Or save time with a scheduled flight of about 1 hour 15 minutes to a nearby airstrip, followed by a short drive to the lodge.

Check in at Buhoma Community Haven Lodge, have lunch and, if time allows, enjoy a short nature walk in the evening. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day2

Gorilla Trekking & On to Kigali

After an early breakfast at the lodge, report at the park gate for registration and a briefing by the rangers before heading into the forest. The trek can take from 30 minutes to 5 hours, depending on where the gorilla family is and on your fitness.

Once the gorillas are found, you spend one magical hour with them, watching them eat, groom and rest. Always keep a distance of 7 metres, use no flash photography and speak quietly. After lunch, cross the border into Rwanda and drive on to Kigali, a 4–5 hour drive, arriving in the late evening. Transfer to Kigali International Airport if you have an international flight. End of trip.

The safari with Daydream Safaris was truly perfect! From the planning and the choice of accommodations to the drives between the national parks, it was wonderful in every way.
Kennedy really thought of everything and put together a great package with Daydream Safaris.
Our guide, Jackson, was friendly, funny, and had eagle eyes—no animal escaped his notice. We got to see all kinds of animals, from elephants and rhinos to predators. And all up close!
For another trip to Kenya or another safari, I highly recommend Kennedy and especially Jackson, because they gave my friends and me an unforgettable trip! Thank you so much!

Three parks, one unforgettable journey. At Amboseli, herds of elephants strolled across the dust with Mount Kilimanjaro rising behind them, a scene so perfect I kept thinking someone had painted it. At Lake Nakuru, the shoreline blushed pink with flamingos, and we spotted rhinos grazing nearby. Then came the Masai Mara, where the plains seemed to go on forever and every drive felt like a nature documentary, with lions on the hunt, cheetahs on the prowl.

But what made this trip truly special was our guide- Mr Jackson, a truly living legend. He had a sharp eye for spotting animals, endless stories about the wildlife and the land, and a way of finding the perfect spot at the perfect moment. His patience, humour and passion turned good sightings into moments I'll be retelling for years. We never felt rushed, and we always felt very looked after.

Although the journey just flew by, and I came home with thousands of photos, dusty boots and a heart full of gratitude. Amazing doesn't cover it. If Kenya is on your list, don't wait. Go, and go with this team. I am already planning to rebook again soon.
