Tour Overview

This fly-in safari is built around the Great Migration, the year-round movement of more than a million wildebeest, together with zebras and gazelles, through the Serengeti ecosystem. You fly from Zanzibar to the Serengeti and spend your first two nights in the central plains, an area rich in resident wildlife such as lions, cheetahs and leopards.

For the second half of the safari you move to a camp close to where the herds are at that time of year: usually the southern plains around Ndutu from December to March (the calving season), the Western Corridor around June and July, and the northern Serengeti from about July to October, when the herds cross the Mara River. The migration follows the rains, so exact timing varies from year to year.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day1

Fly from Zanzibar to the Serengeti

Transfer from your Zanzibar hotel to the airport for your scheduled light-aircraft flight to the Serengeti, usually with a short stop in Arusha. Your driver-guide meets you at the airstrip and you game drive on the way to your camp in the central Serengeti. After lunch and a rest, set out on an afternoon game drive until sunset.

Day2

Full Day in the Central Serengeti

A full day exploring the central Serengeti’s plains, river valleys and granite kopjes, with a picnic lunch in the bush. This area has wildlife all year round, so it is one of the best places to look for lions on the rocks, cheetahs on the open grass and leopards in the trees along the Seronera River. At dawn you can add an optional hot-air balloon flight.

Day3

Central Serengeti to the Migration

After breakfast, check out and game drive across the park towards the migration herds, with a picnic lunch on the way. Depending on the season, your camp is on the southern plains around Ndutu, in the Western Corridor or in the northern Serengeti near the Mara River. Arrive at your camp in the afternoon, in the middle of the action.

Day4

Full Day with the Migration

A full day following the herds, with a picnic lunch in the bush. Watch thousands of wildebeest and zebras on the move and the lions, hyenas and cheetahs that follow them. From December to March you may see newborn calves on the southern plains; from about July to October your guide will wait with you at the Mara River in the hope of a river crossing.

Day5

Fly from the Serengeti to Zanzibar

After breakfast at camp, check out and game drive on the way to the nearest airstrip for your flight back to Zanzibar. On arrival you are transferred to your hotel.

The safari with Daydream Safaris was truly perfect! From the planning and the choice of accommodations to the drives between the national parks, it was wonderful in every way.
Kennedy really thought of everything and put together a great package with Daydream Safaris.
Our guide, Jackson, was friendly, funny, and had eagle eyes—no animal escaped his notice. We got to see all kinds of animals, from elephants and rhinos to predators. And all up close!
For another trip to Kenya or another safari, I highly recommend Kennedy and especially Jackson, because they gave my friends and me an unforgettable trip! Thank you so much!

We had an amazing 10-day safari with Day Dream Safari. Our guide, Jackson, was incredibly friendly, enthusiastic, and always determined to find the best wildlife sightings while making sure we had a great time throughout the trip.

The accommodations and food exceeded our expectations, and everything was well organized from start to finish. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Highly recommend Day Dream Safari to anyone planning a trip to the Masai Mara.

Three parks, one unforgettable journey. At Amboseli, herds of elephants strolled across the dust with Mount Kilimanjaro rising behind them, a scene so perfect I kept thinking someone had painted it. At Lake Nakuru, the shoreline blushed pink with flamingos, and we spotted rhinos grazing nearby. Then came the Masai Mara, where the plains seemed to go on forever and every drive felt like a nature documentary, with lions on the hunt, cheetahs on the prowl.

But what made this trip truly special was our guide- Mr Jackson, a truly living legend. He had a sharp eye for spotting animals, endless stories about the wildlife and the land, and a way of finding the perfect spot at the perfect moment. His patience, humour and passion turned good sightings into moments I'll be retelling for years. We never felt rushed, and we always felt very looked after.

Although the journey just flew by, and I came home with thousands of photos, dusty boots and a heart full of gratitude. Amazing doesn't cover it. If Kenya is on your list, don't wait. Go, and go with this team. I am already planning to rebook again soon.

From the group, thank you Daydream and the team for the memorable trip. See you again soon.
